My name is Beatrice Becette, and I am currently a freshman at The American University. I’m interested in majoring in Film & Media Arts as well as minoring in marketing and creative writing. To me, being visually literate is one of the most important skills to have in today’s society. In this new digital world, images are being used more than ever. With busy schedules and the amount of information out there growing larger and larger, the image seems to be one of the easiest, fastest, most interesting and moving ways to present information and tell a story. Therefore, it is important to be able to analyze, create, and understand these images so that we can learn more about society and ourselves. However, this is a difficult task. My goal is to sharpen my skills so that one day, I can be able to label myself as truly being visually literate. And it all starts here…
